Tag Rugby Tournament held at Stone St Mary's Primary School
On Tuesday 3rd November a team of 9 children (3 girls and 6 boys) took part in the tag rugby tournament. This was the first time we had taken part in this event for over 3 years. It was a last minute decision to enter a team, but with Mr Roe’s passion for rugby we thought it was worth a gamble.
Mr Roe selected children from years 5 and 6 and trained with them either during lunchtime or after school for 2-3 weeks before half term.
The aim of the day was to enjoy the experience and if we won a match or two that would be brilliant. We exceeded our expectations by winning our group which meant we made the final.
It was Temple Hill v Hextable in the final. Hextable opened the scoreboard with the first try, closely followed by another. It wasn’t looking great for us, but in true Temple Hill spirit the children fought back bringing the scores level at 2-2. Hextable touched down again and then increased their lead by a further goal. We managed to score another try, but unfortunately it wasn’t enough. The final score 4-3 to Hextable.
The team came 2nd and came away with silver medals, which was a fantastic achievement. The children worked really hard and showed true sportsmanship throughout the tournament. Well done to every one of you!
