Our personal learning goal this term is: Determination
The topic this term is 3D Designers. In ICT we will be learning how to create and manipulate 3D models using a range of tools and in Science we will be investigating light. But before we do start our new topic our focus will be preparing ourselves for SATs week (week commencing 9th May). We will be revising for Grammar, Puncuation and Spelling (GPS), Reading and Maths.
SATs week starts Monday 9th May
Our personal learning goal this term is: Organisation
On Monday 14th March we took a trip on the London RIB Voyages. This was a fast and furious speedboat ride along the River Thames and not one for the faint hearted! As we made our way down the river we had brilliant close up views of some of London's amazing sights including: The Globe Theatre, The London Eye, The Tower of London and we sped under Tower Bridge.
Both the children and adults enjoyed this fantastic experience!
Run for fun! We completed an obstacle course in aid of Sports Relief!
During our PE lessons we have been participating in gymnastics.
Our personal learning goal this term is: Collaboration
Our topic this term is 'Space Explorers'
To kick off our new topic with a BANG we spent the afternoon building Space Rockets. Afterwards we learnt about the Apollo 11 mission to the moon and the men who made history in 1969.
Acting out Solar System: In this lesson we learnt about the difference between orbiting and rotating. We learnt that all planets in our Solar System orbit the sun at different speeds. Did you know it takes the Earth 365.2 days to orbit the sun and 24 hours to rotate - but it takes Neptune 60,190 days to orbit the Sun but just 16 hours to rotate!?
On 27th January we visited Greenwich Observatory where we were able to learn more about our incredible Solar System! The best part was the Planetarium - this is where we got to visit every planet in our Solar System and beyond!
Mathletics goes live at Temple Hill!
Inspired ways to Rio
As part of our 'Inspired ways to Rio' journey on 28th January some children took part in a variety of activities, including a trip to Chatham dry slopes, helping out at the co-op, litter picking and Dartford District Sportshall Athletics. Taking part in these activities allowed the children to earn Rio miles. The 10 children who took part in the athletics collected 89 miles and the children who took part in the other activities collected 21.
Jess and Will took part in the District Sportshall Athletics competition along with 8 other children and came away with runner up medals. Well done guys!
Kyran, Holly, Nathan, Conor and Tolu became shop assistants for the day, helping out at the Co-op.
Our personal learning goal this term is: Perseverance
Our topic this term is "AD900". We will be learning about the Myans and the Vikings.
We made our own Viking boats.
Do you think our boats will float?
Steve the Viking visited Temple Hill and shared his knowledge of the Vikings with us.
In December some children from Year 6 were lucky enough to work with Nathan Timothy from "The Songwriting Charity". The children wrote and recorded their own song about "Bullying". Please click on the following link to watch and listen to our awesome performance.
Be My Friend Tonight
As term 2 comes to an end we are busy preparing for Christmas. We have enjoyed the Christingle service, the bauble workshop, Jack and the Beantstalk Panto to name just a few activities.
We would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Our personal learning goal this term is: Communication
Our topic this term is "Out of Africa". During our English lessons the children will be reading 'Journey to Jo'burg and learning all about the African continent.
We have been learning all about fossils. Do you really know what a fossil is? Do you know how a fossil is formed? We do!
Fossils are the remains of once living animals or plants. When people think of fossils they generally think of dinosaur skeletons, but there are many different fossils to be found. Fossils that are found today in rocks represent the ancestors of animals and plants that are around today.
Look! We made our own fossils using clay.
Fun at Wide Horizons!
Our personal learning goal this term is 'communication'. This was key in our team building exercise at Wide Horizons.
On Monday afternoon we have PE with Allstars and Jiggle with Holly.
This week Holly has begun teaching us a new dance routine. Watch this space as you may receive an invite to come and watch us perform.
In PE this term we have been practising SAQ (speed, agility and quickness). We have also been building up our stamina in running. This week we also played handball.
