Sex education is part of Personal, Social, and Health Education. We feel it is an advantage if the children receive a more detailed form of sex education before they enter secondary school. Puberty, conception, birth and early development are dealt with and the importance of a happy family relationship is emphasised. Should you wish to have further information about the content of the lessons and teaching methods used, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher who will be happy to provide further details. Parents will be informed in advance of the timing of these sessions so that they can withdraw their children from them if they wish. We find that children can best cope with this ongoing time of change when parents and school support one another to provide the correct information presented in a sensitive and common sense way.
