STARS OF TOMORROW
Teacher - Amanda Robertson | Associate Teacher - Kelly Dando
Welcome to The Stars of Tomorrow! We chose our class name because we believe that through our fantastic learning this year, we will truly become the Stars of Tomorrow.
On this page you will find out about all the wonderful things we have been learning in school. Our class reading book, in Term 4, is 'Beware Killer Tomatoes' by Jeremy Strong, the story of Jack and his unexpected meeting with an 'alien' whilst in hospital. In our Read, Write, Inc lessons we have been studying biographies and autobiographies. We are enjoying learning about Jeremy Strong and Michael Rosen.
Term 5: Champions for Change
This term we will be learning all about governments and rulers around the world. Politics is about taking an active role in the future to improve our lives and the lives of others. We will be learning about the impact of decisions made by the government. On 1st May 2015 we will be visiting the Houses of Parliament, in London. Keep an eye out for the letter coming home soon.
Term 4: Being Human
Term 4 has certainly been busy here in Year 5. In our IPC topic, Being Human, we have been learning all about how our bodies work and how we can stay healthy. The children have learnt about the complexities of the human brain, heart and skeleton. Through an exhausting, but exhilarating, beep test in P.E the children have understood learnt how the lungs function. In Art careful sketching techniques have been used to create detailed images of our hands and faces.
This term has seen the exciting new addition to the curriculum of Latin on a Wednesday morning. The children have been learning all about a Roman family that lived nearly 2000 years ago in a town, near Hadrain's Wall, called Vindolanda. Why don't you ask the children if they can introduce themselves in Latin?
