News from Year 3

Materials Workshop

On Tuesday 28th February, we were visited by Mr Berry who delivered an amazing workshop to us all about materials.  We learned about the different states: liquids, gasses and solids and how temperature affects them.  Thank you very much Mr Berry!

We will be visiting the Enchanted Woodland for our IPC topic this term.  As ever, we would request the children wear suitable outdoor clothing on the day.  Please no designer labels!

Maths Quizzes

Our first quiz will take place on 21/3/17.  They will take place weekly from this date.

Home Learning and Other Information

In Term 4 we will be focusing on non-fiction texts all inspired by Kent and the school's local area.  We are aiming to practise our use of paragraphs, encourage the use of a wider range of punctuation as well as writing for a range of purposes.

In Term 4 our focus will be on fractions.  We will be encouraging the children to complete calculations with fractions alongside appreciating their everyday function.

Our Term 4 topic in IPC is 'Material World'.

We will be focusing on Art, Geography and Science.  In Science, we will be exploring the various states of matter and conducting scientific investigations into them, alongside a study of the water cycle.    In Art, we will be using a whole range of materials to produce our pieces.  In Geography, we will be looking at the United Kingdom; its major cities and counties as well as appreciating the impact that humans have on the environment.
